La salvaguardia della biodiversità riguarda tutti

The protection of biodiversity concerns everyone

Today we want to tell you about a 100% Made in Italy initiative aimed at safeguarding biodiversity and therefore our ecosystem through Bees. Are you wondering what the adoption of a beehive has to do with our handcrafted textile production ?

Save the bees

A few days ago, we approached a very interesting initiative from an ethical point of view, so we wanted to explore the subject further.

First... why adopt a beehive.

If you're still not aware of the importance bees play on our planet, it's time to read up!

The bee is the quintessential symbol of pollination. Unlike other insects, its furry little body gets covered in pollen as it moves from one flower to another; this pollen makes her heavy and clumsy even in flight but she is strong! Its hind legs seem to have been made to allow it to carry its precious cargo. In addition to producing honey, bees are the foundation on which the entire pollination process of all plants is based and for this reason they must be safeguarded at all costs! Unfortunately the bees are disappearing...

3Bee: an all-Italian team

3Bee is a young all-Italian start-up , an agri-tech company that develops intelligent systems for monitoring and diagnosing bees and biodiversity. Combining electronics and biology they have in fact developed a system for monitoring the state of health of the hives . The system makes it possible to analyze the needs and requirements of bees so as to intervene in a targeted manner in the event of problems.

Reading the intent of this company, their motivations and knowing how important it is to support biodiversity nowadays, we really found many similarities between us at Arketicom and this new project; we will focus only on some aspects.

Monitoring of hives through the 3Bee system

Through 3Bee you can adopt a hive (artificial hive) remotely by choosing your beekeeper throughout Italy, from north to south. We at Arketicom wanted to support the soc. coop. Amicheapi located in Palermo , Sicily. Below we explain the reason for our choice.

The bees are dying!

The situation is alarming and recent research data confirm a truly critical situation: over ten million beehives have disappeared in the last five years, almost two million a year and over two hundred thousand in Italy alone.

There are many causes: global pollution, the use of pesticides and insecticides in intensive agriculture and many others.

For this reason, when you are comfortably lying on your beanbag in the garden and you see a bee flying, don't chase it away! She won't sting you if she isn't annoyed. But above all, try to distinguish whether it is a bee or a wasp.

The protocols imposed by 3Bee are very strict, in order to ensure that the beekeepers involved in the project strictly comply with the rules, such as:

  • No use of antibiotics. The use of illegal chemicals is prohibited.
  • The use of adulterants in honey is prohibited.
  • Forbidden to import or blend with other honeys.

Support for Italian entrepreneurs

Agriculture and handicrafts are jobs that, with digitization and continuous technological updating, are destined to disappear. We at Arketicom as well as the guys atAmicheapi are resisting this change, combining tradition with technology to bring to the market a product with high added value and 100% Made in Italy.

Why did we choose to support Amicheapi and not other beekeepers?

Transparency of production processes

We have chosen to support the Amicheapi farm, because one of Arketicom's main values is the transparency of the production processes. These guys don't "make up stories" but create and share them daily to keep us updated on everything they do during a normal working day. By following their Facebook and Instagram channels, you will be able to find out exactly how the food you bring to the table is produced.

Beefriends Instagram profile

Let me be clear, this article is not the result of an explicit collaboration to promote products or services, but a casual coincidence and a desire to disseminate initiatives, which, from our point of view, should be supported.

Passion for work and family management

The work that comes from a hobby is pure passion! Whether it's been handed down for generations or not doesn't matter, what matters is the love with which it's created!

These guys from the Coop Agricola Amicheapi first of all stimulated our curiosity with their videos, on all the work behind a teaspoon of honey. They are very active on their social networks and will guide you, with their stories, in a world almost completely unknown to many.

As in Arketicom, Amicheapi is also a mainly family-run company which over time has been able to make use of the workforce of specialized personnel, thus favoring the Italian workforce and work on the national territory.

Certificate of adoption

Although illusory, by adopting a beehive you will receive an adoption certificate (ours below), a very nice symbol of belonging and closeness to your beehive, complete with the name of your Queen, race and origin. Furthermore, by adopting your beehive, when the bees have finished their work and the beekeepers have collected it, you will receive your jar of honey at home, without pesticides or chemicals, therefore 100% natural!

Certificate of adoption

Life is a chain. If we don't support those little cogs that make the productive machine work, that chain will break, and we will be responsible for it.

Bellissima iniziativa quella di adottare un alveare e sostenere una piccola azienda familiare e genuina come la vostra di Arketicom! Le api sono importanti per l’ecosistema e grandi produttrici di oro liquido!
