Halloween decorations? The Pumpkin Pouf arrives, and not only for the night of the Saints

As a gift for Halloween we have decided to tell you some stories about our popular traditions with the hope of making you look at this party with a different soul.

Maybe you weren't aware of it, but there are local customs very close to those of Anglo-Saxon countries , which are still celebrated on the night between October 31st and November 1st. Did you know that many carved pumpkins are placed, as an ornament, in every corner of streets and squares even here in Southern Italy? Lights and shades reminiscent of autumn are reflected in the eyes of adults and children who stroll along the avenues during the night of the "Fucacoste" and "Cocce Priatorje".

This event which has always been dedicated to the deceased takes place in Orsana, a splendid and ancient village in Puglia. If we move to San Nicandro Garganico, near Foggia, instead we find something very similar to "trick or treat", which sees children as protagonists. The latter in their wanderings, knocking from door to door, recite nursery rhymes in exchange for gifts.

However, the eve of every saint lends itself to more frightening stories near Taranto, where it is told of a real coming and going of souls who, according to legend, wander through the streets of the city until Epiphany. Why not revive this atmosphere by decorating your home with purple and orange, shades that symbolize this holiday?
